Winifred (Freddie) Era Rice Brown, 82, lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, April 15th, 2017, at her home in Huntsville, Alabama. As she ascends to her eternal home with the Almighty, she might be found painting sunsets with her newfound wings. Or, winning the Bingo jackpot on Wednesday nights. We're certain it's one of the two. Ms. Brown was born in Pisgah, Alabama, on January 2, 1935. She spent time in Hawaii and Georgia before finally settling once again in her home state. She was fiercely independent and leaves a legacy of love, strength, perseverance, and strong coffee. She enjoyed a successful career as a Contract Administrator for General Services Administration (GSA) before retiring with nearly 30 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lincoln Rice and Ola Pearlee Overton Rice; her daughter, Sandra Dee Brown; and her siblings Jean Bastin, Inez Wheeler, Eunice Brewster, Pam Davis, James Rice, Frankie Rice, and Thomas Rice. She is survived by her daughters Michele Kay VanPatten, Trenette Yvonne Brown, and Cynthia Ola Pearlee Brown; her grandchildren Wendy Raquel Pfeiffenberger, Mitzi Christine Faircloth, Eraka Channing Brown, and Tyler Steven Brown; her great-grandchildren Jase Giles, Makinna Faircloth, Mika Faircloth, Jake Pfeiffenberger, and Finn Pfeiffenberger; and her brother, Joe Wendall Rice. Visitation will be at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Alabama, from 3:00pm - 8:00pm on Monday, April 17, 2017, and from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.Services begin at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in the chapel at Kerby Funeral Home.
